The Bombardier Challenger 600 series, and cousin the 300 series, have become icons of Canadian high-tech vision and design. The original Challenger 600 aircraft, first produced by Montreal-based Canadair, was certified in 1980. In the nearly 40 years since it entered service it has undergone numerous refinements, including a stretched variant known as the Challenger 800 series, and a smaller clean-sheet design known as the Challenger 300 series.
The Challenger is one of aviation’s most versatile and popular designs. In 1992 a stretched version of the Challenger 600 series business jet entered service as a commercial passenger airliner known as the Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ). The CRJ program has sold over 1,800 aircraft world-wide, including subsequent variants that helped redefine the regional airline industry of the last 3 decades. No other aviation program has had this kind of cross-platform success.

The latest variant of the original Challenger 600, the 650, continues to sell well and is a testament to the strength and flexibility of the original jet’s design. It typically seats 10 passengers (it can go up to 12 and cabin configurations vary according to customer preferences). It can travel 4,000 Nautical Miles, or 7,408 kilometers. This latest model has an advanced wing design, new engines and latest technology flight deck that help provide customers with an exceptional flying experience.
The smaller Challenger 300 was first delivered to customers nearly 15 years ago. The current model is the Challenger 350. It has a range of over 3,000 Nautical Miles, or 5,500 kilometers. Considered a “super-midsize” cabin aircraft, it typically seats 8 passengers. 650 Challenger 300 series aircraft were delivered in the 10-years ended December 2017, making it the best-selling business jet platform of the last decade according to the manufacturer.
