Gulfstream Announces the G700
Gulfstream has upped the ante in the world of large cabin ultra long range private aircraft with the launch of the G700. The Savannah, GA based business aircraft manufacturer premiered the G700 business aircraft at the recent Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (BACE) held in Las Vegas. A full size cabin mockup of the aircraft was on display, while the first two test aircraft are currently in assembly.
The cabin of the G700 features a 10 foot stretch over the current G650, permitting a 5th living area compared to the G650. Maximum seating is 19. The G700 will have 7,500 nm (8,631 miles/ 13,890 kilometer) maximum range, and a flight deck that will allow crews certified to fly the smaller G500 and G600 to also fly the G700.
How Does it Stack Up?
While the G700 does not have quite the same range as Bombardier's 7,700 nm Global 7500, Gulfstream has staked its claim to the widest, tallest, and longest cabin in the industry in the G700. The large cabin enables Gulfstream to offer new levels of comfort and luxury.
Catered Meal or Chef-Prepared Meal On-board?
The forward section of the G700 features a very large galley that includes a refrigerator, microwave, separate heating oven, and loads of storage space for silverware, food, and drinks. All this and a 10-foot long counter-top. With this much space the galley will give customers the option to either cater the flight or bring a chef along to prepare meals on-board.
High-Flying Tech
There’s a separate entertainment zone that includes a three-person divan, pop-up 40-inch 4K flat-screen TV, and a 3D sound system with speaker technology integrated with the sidewalls. If that isn't enough tech, while passengers enjoy haute cuisine at haute altitudes, they can have their phones charged wirelessly simply by placing them down on the stow-able dining area table. All seats feature integrated storage, power outlets, and exceptionally large cup holders that can hold just about any beverage of your choice. The aft sleeping area and large bathroom can include an optional shower so you can arrived refreshed at destination.
Where to?
Gulfstream has set maximum range at 7,500 nm at a normal cruise speed of Mach 0.85 (85% of the speed of sound). At this speed the G700 will take you from New York to Beijing, all of South America, or even Cape Town and Delhi. At high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90 the aircraft can go 6,400 nm. The aircraft's maximum cruise speed is Mach 0.925, similar to its G500/600/650 models.
Certification of the G700 is expected in about 2 years-time permitting first customer deliveries as soon as 2022.
