It may seem astonishing that the widest purpose-built business jet cabin in the world comes in a package that can operate from runways as short as 3,000 feet in length. The French-built Dassault Falcon 6X has this and more.

The latest offering in a lineup that includes the longstanding Falcon 900 and 2000 series, along with the newer Falcon 7X and 8X, will make its first flight in 2021 and begin customer deliveries in 2022.

Range To Fly Frequently Traveled Routes

The Falcon 6X has a 5,500 nautical mile range (6,329 statue miles/ 10,186 km) and a top speed of Mach .90. On long sectors, the 6X can fly directly from Los Angeles to London, Sao Paulo to Chicago, Moscow to New York, or Paris to Beijing at Mach 0.85.

Top Tech Opens Up More Airports

At the heart of the aircraft’s impressive performance is The Pratt & Whitney Canada Pure®Power PW812D engine, that produces between 13,000-14,000 lbs thrust. The PW812D is a variant of the geared turbofan (GTF) that was pioneered for use in commercial aircraft such as the Airbus A220 and Airbus A320NEO. The PW812D is part of a new breed of engine technology designed to improve aircraft performance while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The 6X is equipped with an ultra-efficient wing including a new wing device called a flaperon, coupled with a next-generation digital flight control system. According to the manufacturer, the flaperon considerably improves control during approach and landing, which facilitates slower approach speeds and in turn provides access to more airports when compared to other competitors in its class . The design also enables the 6X to access airports requiring steep approach angles such as Lugano, Switzerland, or London City.

And if this isn’t enough, artificial intelligence will enable maintenance staff to anticipate the aircraft’s needs before customers notice any issues.

“Ultra Wide Body”

Falcon are calling the 6X the first “ultra wide body” business jet. At 8.5 feet wide, and 6.6 feet tall the cabin experience is expected to be top notch.

Space to work or relax is more than generous and large closely spaced windows ensure that an abundance of natural light permeates throughout.

Not only will customers feel relaxed when flying on 6X, they will arrive feeling refreshed. While cruising at 41,000 feet, cabin altitude in the 6X is a comfortable 3,900 feet (this compares to 6,000-8,000 on commercial aircraft).
